    Retention Year: 2026Recommendation: Meets Performance Standards Reports: 2026 Retention Survey Report (PDF) *Insufficient responses to publish 2025 Survey Report The Fourth Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission voted 10-0 that Judge Marika Frady MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. County Court Judge Frady currently presides over a docket that is 90% criminal and 10% civil. Her criminal docket consists of misdemeanors, traffic violations, and petty offenses. Her civil docket primarily consists of cases involving breach of contract, landlord/tenant disputes, and eviction. Attorneys and non-attorneys who appeared before Judge Frady commented favorably on how she works hard, strives to be fair and professional to each person in her courtroom, and is working to develop a good system to ensure that cases receive the attention they deserve but do not experience undue delays. Survey results were reviewed by the Commission. There were a total of 660 invitations sent to attorneys and non-attorneys; only 11 of them completed the survey. The extremely low response rate makes the results statistically invalid. Even so, Judge Frady received an overall score of 3.7 out of 4.0 for judicial performance. The Commission personally interviewed Judge Frady, reviewed several of her written orders, reviewed judicial performance data, and observed her in Court. The Commission also received feedback on Judge Frady from the Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District as well as representatives from both the local offices of the District Attorney and the Public Defender. Information from all sources consistently described her as a good judge who is learning fast, working hard, and making a positive contribution to the County Court. The Commission was particularly impressed with how Judge Frady’s hard work and focus on an efficient, but fair, process caused her division's caseload to drop from 850 to 450 cases on average. Her opinions are clear and well written. Despite being relatively new to the bench, Judge Frady has made a favorable impression on those who have appeared in front of her. Her efforts each day to approach her role as a judge with diligence, humility, and a commitment to continued learning are being rewarded with a solid start to her time on the bench. The Governor appointed Judge Frady to the County Court on July 24, 2024. Before that, for 11 years she operated a solo legal practice, specializing in dependency and neglect defense in El Paso and Teller counties. Prior to working in private practice, she spent six years as a prosecutor. Judge Frady graduated from the University of Missouri in 2001, and in 2004 she received her law degree from the University of Colorado, where she served as President of the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. Judge Frady’s work ethic and commitment to justice will serve the County Court well in the coming years.
