  Retention Year: 2026Recommendation: Meets Performance Standards Reports: *Insufficient responses to publish 2026 Survey Report *Insufficient responses to publish 2025 Survey Report The Seventeenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously agrees by a vote of 8-0 with two commissioners absent, that Judge Lara M. Jimenez MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. Judge Jimenez was appointed to the Adams County Court in January 2023 and presides over criminal felony (15%), misdemeanor and traffic (85%) cases. The Commission finds Judge Jimenez to be consistent, impartial, and fair. Her demeanor is professional and respectful to all parties before her, and she works hard to ensure that everyone is heard. Her manner conveys and promotes public confidence in her integrity. Additionally, she runs an efficient courtroom and manages her dockets well. She is committed to clarity in her communication, and her written decisions are concise and accurate, with accessible language. Judge Jimenez is hardworking, service-oriented, and committed to learning and growing. She demonstrates strong legal knowledge, self-awareness, and humility. Commission members observed these qualities during their evaluation and interview with Judge Jimenez. Based on these findings, the Commission unanimously agreed that Judge Lara Jimenez meets performance standards. In reviewing the judicial performance of Judge Jimenez, the Commission conducted and reviewed a personal interview with her. The Commission also interviewed the Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial District, and representatives from the Public Defender’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office. Other elements of Judge Jimenez’s judicial performance review include her self-evaluation, judicial performance data, court observations, and legal opinions she authored. The number of judicial performance survey responses for Judge Jimenez were insufficient and therefore not reviewed per the judicial performance commission policies. Prior to her County Court appointment, Judge Jimenez was a magistrate in the 17th judicial district and previously served as a magistrate for the City and County of Denver. Before her judicial career, Judge Jimenez was an associate attorney at Front Line Law and served as a Deputy District Attorney from 2011-2020. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Adams State University in 2006 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado Law School in 2009. In addition to their judicial duties, Judge Jimenez is the President of the Adams and Broomfield Bar Association. She actively mentors' newer attorneys and is always willing to provide feedback after trial completion to attorneys who appeared before her. Judge Jimenez is also active at her children’s school and in their youth activities.
