    Retention Year: 1998 Recommendation: Retain The Eighteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends unanimously that Judge James F. Macrum, Jr. BE RETAINED. Judge Macrum received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University in 1964 and law degree from the University of Denver in 1967. Judge Macrum has served on the bench for 16 years. Prior to his 1990 appointment as a District Court Judge for felony, domestic, juvenile and appellate matters he served as a part-time Aurora Municipal Court judge from 1982-85 and as a County Court Judge from 1986-89. Before accepting his appointment to the bench, he was an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, an 18th Judicial District deputy district attorney from 1973-76 and in private general law practice from 1976-85. Nearly 95% of the attorneys surveyed recommended Judge Macrum's retention. Jurors, noting he is "always" considerate of their time and service, endorsed his retention 100%. Others surveyed gave similar high marks. Judge Macrum received high praise for his professionalism, courtroom demeanor, and fair and unbiased treatment of parties.

    Retention Year: 1992 Recommendation: Retain Judge Macrum was admitted to the practice of law in Colorado in 1967. He received his undergraduate degree from George Washington University and his law degree from the University of Denver. Judge Macrum is presently serving as District Judge for the 18th Judicial District. Before his appointment to the district bench, Judge Macrum served as county judge, municipal judge, assistant county attorney, deputy district attorney, attorney for the Federal Trade Commission and as a private practitioner. Judge Macrum was assigned to the criminal docket in January, 1992. Before that time, he handled the civil docket. The overall response from attorneys, jurors and law enforcement persons was 85% in favor of retention. These responses generally characterized Judge Macrum as courteous, hard-working, competent and respected.   The 18th Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge James F. Macrum be Retained.
