  Retention Year: 2026Recommendation: Meets Performance Standards Reports: Insufficient responses to publish 2026 Survey Report *Insufficient responses to publish 2025 Survey Report The Denver County Court Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously agrees by a vote of 5-0 that Judge Isaam L. Shamsid-Deen MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. The Colorado statutory judicial performance criteria are integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, administrative performance, and service to the legal profession and the public. Judge Shamsid-Deen is direct and efficient in his courtroom. He is considered a team player by his colleagues and is known to be hardworking and diligent. Since joining the bench, he has handled difficult cases and new areas of law well. He is self-aware and, as a newer member of the court, is willing to seek guidance from other judges. He has a continuing focus on mastering the technical aspects of his work and growing as a judge. As he gains experience, it is expected that he will add even more value to the court. Judge Shamsid-Deen is passionate about being visible in the community, being relatable as a judge, and representing the court well. He takes his position on the court seriously and strives to be a role model in the community. In evaluating Judge Shamsid-Deen, the commission did extensive live, livestream and recorded courtroom observations, conducted a personal interview with the judicial officer, and reviewed case management data and the judicial officer self-evaluation, with supporting documents when submitted, to inform its decision for meets/does not meet performance standards. Judge Shamsid-Deen was appointed to the Denver County Court in June 2023. He serves on the Court’s information technology committee. Prior to his appointment, he served as a senior deputy district attorney in Denver, where he prosecuted organized crime, embezzlement and adulty felony cases. From 2009 to 2012, Judge Shamsid-Deen was a compliance investigator with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies’ Civil Rights Division. He is a past member of the National Black Prosecutors Association where he served as its Rocky Mountain regional director. His memberships include the Sam Cary Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado. Judge Shamsid-Deen earned his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and his law degree from the University of Denver.
